My New (Old) Obsession
by WootiniOkay, so I've got this copy of Doom 3 for the Xbox that I've been meaning to review, but I always feel like I should play most, if not all, of a game before I feel like I can really give an official opinion. But see, the problem with Doom 3 is that, while it's pretty as hell (if you consider Hell pretty), it's also wicked linear, and I quickly grew tired of that. And for whatever reason, I dug out my old copy of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and popped that in my big, black box instead. And you know what? I got sucked right the heck back into it. I finished the main quest in this game like, last year, but barely explored a fraction of the available world map or the two expansion packs included in my Game Of The Year Edition. Go figure. First person games are always more immersive for me, but what Morrowind does that Doom 3 doesn't is to give you an entire world that you are free to explore at your leisure. Doom 3 is a terrific roller coaster ride, but I like being able to decide where I want to go and when. And good lord, the world of Morrowind is just freakin' huge. Right now I'm running around doing some Thieves Guild quests, and having a blast. And God help me, but as much as I don't want to waste my money on an Xbox360 when it comes out this fall, knowing that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is coming out day and date with the console is a temptation I'm not sure I'm going to be able to resist!
