Snake-Eyes
Ninja. G.I. Joe's unstoppable killing machine
by Dave McAwesomeHow does one describe Snake-Eyes? How does one describe an individual who can disarm an opponent in less than a second, scale sheer walls, dodge bullets and fly? Indeed, how does one describe a god?
Although Snake-Eyes is a member of the G.I. Joe team, he is also a ninja which means his first allegiance is to killing every living creature on earth.
As the G.I. Joe Marvel comic progressed, Snake-Eyes grew more powerful. Need to take out a couple of perimeter guards without making a sound? Send in Snake-Eyes. Need to infiltrate a military installation with a hilltop vantage point to detect any approach from five miles out? Send in Snake-Eyes. Need to catch a sword blade with your bare hands? Send in Snake-Eyes. Need to kill every single Cobra soldier in the Cobra Consulate, destroy the entire building, shatter load-bearing walls with Ninja magic and escape unharmed with only a few tears in your uniform to show for an afternoon's work? Send in Snake-Eyes. You think I'm kidding. You obviously haven't read the comic. By the time G.I. Joe issues hit #135, Snake-Eyes was a being of unstoppable power. He was so powerful he changed the name of the comic from G.I. Joe to "G.I. Joe starring Snake-Eyes and Ninja Force." Guess which name was the biggest on the cover? That's power, baby. By this time, a full quarter of the world's population had undergone ninja training, and the Free World was in dire need of a team to counter the growing global ninja menace. Snake-Eyes would regularly take down 30 to 40 highly trained ninjas per issue.
