all right, alright
The correct version is 'all right,' but 'alright' has forged ahead thanks to common usage. I wouldn't use 'alright' in an English or Literature class, but most people are so quasi-literate these days that it'll pass in most instances. Let's just keep other shortcuts, such as 'lite,' to brand names ( e.g. Miller Lite). Deal? Deal. Incidentally, Miller Lite is a decent light beer. I prefer stouts, but if I'm drinking at a filthy bar and want to avoid strychnine poisoning from their seldom-cleaned taps, I'm content to saddle up a few bottles of Miller Lite. Giddy up, lager-fueled beer pony!
