Green Bay Packers

The Packers were named after the Indian Packing Company, which put up the money to support the team during its first season. For much of their early history, the team's colors were blue and gold. Curly Lambeau considered changing the name of the team to the Blues. If you're from the future, can you tell the rest of us if Brett Favre is still playing QB?

Interestingly, the Packers are owned by their fans (shareholders). Numerous provisions prohibit the ownership of a controlling interest in the team (there's a maximum number of shares one person may own) or moving the team out of Green Bay. Shares also never increase in value. Notably, owning shares does not grant the owner season tickets.
