The fine print:
Okay, look, web design takes a lot of time and energy, so if your blog is awarded the opportunity to get some basic, free design services, it's a privilege, not a right.
To cover our asses, we have to say that the owners of MaximumAwesome.com, BlogThunderdome.com, and its promotional partners (i.e., the web designers (and their respective Web sites) who are donating their services) reserve the right to revoke these design services at any time without warning.
Recipients of these services, please take note: The service does NOT include installation or the implementation of skinning functionality. If you want added services, ask how much it will cost (or check out their web sites).
What we are offering is the opportunity to get free design services. If the contestant is unable to accept the offer made by the Web designer (and/or his/her respective Web design company) for whatever reason, that contestant shall have no recourse. If the contestant lacks the technical know-how on implementing any part of the free service(s) offered, that contestant is encouraged to ask such questions on a web design message board.
The owners of MaximumAwesome.com, BlogThunderdome.com, and its promotional partners (i.e., the web designers (and their respective Web sites) who are donating their services) reserve the right to determine which (and if) any services shall be donated to a contestant.
If you act like a jerk when dealing with these extremely generous web designers, you will get nothing. The owners of MaximumAwesome.com, BlogThunderdome.com, and its promotional partners reserve the right to determine if you are being a jerk.
