The basics on how we play this in our forum

There is trouble in Misfitopia Village. The Mafia is muscling in. Will the townspeople save their village by lynching the suspected parties? Or will the Mafia knock them off one by one?

The game consists of two factions: the Townspeople of the Village and the Mafia. Each townsperson does NOT know who the others are. Each Mobster knows who the others are. On Misfitopia, the Mobsters will be able to post their discussions and strategy in a hidden forum.

These are the players in the game. Each game day they may perform a special action, in addition to whatever other posts they wish to make. No PMs, emails or other discussion outside the public game thread in the forum is permitted (except where noted in the player descriptions).

Misfit - Usually called a Townsperson. A Misfit is an average Townsperson. Each Misfit posts whom they wish the Town to lynch. The Cop, Doctor, Mason and others are special types of Misfits (sometimes called 'roles') with extra powers.

Cop - PMs the game leader whom they wish to investigate. The result will either be innocent (Townsperson) or guilty (Mafia).

Mafia - The Mafia family consists of Mobsters. Mobsters masquerade as Misfits and post whom they wish the Town to lynch. They ALSO vote whom to kill in the hidden Mobster forum. May also pose as Cop or Doctor to throw off the Townspeople. Because this is a kinda screwed up website, we're bored of the Italian mob stuff, so our mob is the kilt-wearing Scottish mafia. Haggis and scotch for all!

Another twist in our forum is that we use a hidden forum area called MobChat for the Mobsters to talk to each other freely and plot their scheme. The game leader sets the password for several clone accounts (Usually Fat Tony and Jabba the Hutt) that the mobsters will have exclusive access to. This way, no other forum members will know the identity of who is posting in MobChat, nor will they be able to read any of the posts within.

Lynchings
There will be a lynching every game day. Simple majority rules. Unlike other threads in the forum, when you vote in this game you have to actually POST your vote on whom to lynch. You are part of a lynchmob and there's no anonymity in that. Please post your choice clearly.

Lynchings are public. The following game day, the game leader will reveal only whether or not the lynched Townsperson was truly a Townie or a Mobster. He will not reveal the role (Cop, Doctor, Godfather, etc.) if any. Mob hits, however, are private. The game leader will reveal who was killed but nothing else.

Discussion
Providing a reason for your lynch vote either in the same post or elsewhere is your only way of swaying the masses and trying to organize. PMs and discussions outside the public forum thread are discouraged for the sake of the game. The exception, of course, is for the Mobsters who are provided with a hidden forum for discussion purposes. If the Mobsters do discuss things outside the forum, they are encouraged to later post that in the hidden forum so that all the players may view it AFTER the game is over.

How do I vote?
Each day, players vote to lynch another player. You will vote in the game's forum thread. Please put your vote in bold face and (if possible) update the current tally.

For example, if the tally is Optimus Prime 2, Snake Eyes 1 and Duke 1, then your vote should be something like:
vote to lynch: Optimus Prime

current tally:
Optimus Prime 3
Snake Eyes 1
Duke 1

If you wish to change your vote, simply say:
unvote: Optimus Prime
vote to lynch: Snake Eyes
Then update the tally. That will be extremely helpful to the other players.

You may also:
vote to lynch: nobody
if you so choose.

Who gets to be what?
Players who sign up will each receive a PM from the game leader revealing their role in the game. There will be a sign-up thread in the forum.
