Aliens vs. Ripley
Mafia variant
by MonogodoThis is an experimental variant on the standard Mafia/Werewolf game.
The game begins with one Mother Alien (godfather, except she will appear guilty when investigated), one Bishop (Cop), one Ellen Ripley (Doc) and the rest are Crew (Townspeople). The Mother Alien is attempting to take over the ship (town). He wins once all the Townspeople are dead or have turned to aliens.
The Mother Alien acts like a Cult Leader for all intents and purposes. Every night he sends a facehugger (recruits) after a Townsperson. The Mother Alien MUST specify which alien is attempting to recruit a crewmember. The alien who attempts to recruit Ripley (Cop) dies. Once a Townsperson is hit with the facehugger, he spends the next day as a regular crewperson (he doesn't yet know he's been infected--think of it like the first Alien movie; they figured he was fine after the facehugger fell off, like it was a bad dream). If he survives that day, THEN he becomes an alien (mafia). (At Misfitopia, he joins the Mother Alien in the hidden forum.)
- Ripley - plays as the Doctor in a standard Mafia game, protecting one crew member per night. Ripley can't be infected or killed by the Aliens. Ripley can be lynched. Essentially, Ripley is both a Doctor and a Survivalist with unlimited bullets.
- Bishop - plays as the Cop in a standard Mafia game, but his "investigations" are medical scans. He does not get a free scan. A scan of a crew member comes up "clean". A scan of an infected crew member or Alien comes up "infected". If Bishop is targeted by the Aliens, he does not get infected, but rather dies instantly.
If the Mother Alien wishes, she can elect to kill a victim at night instead of infecting someone. She still must designate a subordinate Alien to perform the killing, in case the target is Ripley.
If the Mother Alien is lynched, the infection order for that night still goes through, as the egg that contains the facehugger for that night’s infection would have been produced prior to the lynching. Also, if the Mother Alien is lynched, the remaining Aliens perform a single killing each night. They still have to decide amongst themselves who carries out the killing, in case Ripley is targeted.
There will be a player lynched every day. If the crew decides to do a “no lynch” vote, a crewmember will be randomly selected for lynching by the Game Host.
The following actions will be done randomly, if no decision is made by the specific characters:
- Ripley’s nightly protection
- Bishop’s nightly scan
- Alien’s nightly infection/kill attempt
